The theme for this year’s Met Gala was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Asap Rocky was a co-chair wearing his own design. In contrast, many celebs wore Louis Vuitton and Thom Browne, among others. If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I’m not one to create long posts, so …..my favorites:

It’s no secret I’m obsessed with Nicki Minaj! She’s my favorite artist, but she’s been on hiatus for a while, so the anticipation was eating me alive. Then, she popped out at the Met Gala looking like the most beautiful dark rose. The tailoring, the hair, the makeup …PERFECTION.

Designer: Burberry
Cardi B is a fashion icon and rarely misses. When I heard the theme, I knew she was gonna kill it. She looked so relaxed and in her element, and the play on green was genius. I love how she went for an unexpected look with her hair. We always expect to see her in a straight style, but this was stunning.

#4 TEYANA TAYLOR
Designer: Ruth E. Carter
Teyana is queen for an androgynous look, and she didn’t disappoint this year at the Met. This look sent me over the edge because it represents the part of our culture that we all grew up on. I can’t explain it exactly, but this look spoke without saying anything, down to the durag.

Designer – Louis Vuitton – Creative Director Pharrell
Future always does his own thing, and he looked so effortless. This looks is one of my favorites because it’s not an over-the-top …try-hard look. The look was at the hands of Pharrell, who understands the need to have a tailored fit without looking typical. It really grinds my gears when I see men in a tuxedo on a carpet, year over year. Yes, a tuxedo is on theme, and the goal is to wear tailored pieces, but make it your own. Switch it up! The gloves and the sunglasses …âī¸
